Eight companies bid for 1,250 crore underground construction contract for Kanpur metro
Kanpur, India (Urban Transport News): Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL) on October 14, 2021 (Thursday) opened technical bids for the construction of a 4.65 km long underground tunnel with three metro stations between Nayaganj station and the ramp Nagar transport as part of the KNPCC-06 package of the Kanpur metro. Railway project.
According to the information shared by the UPMRC, the following companies and consortia have submitted their offers for the execution of this contract.
- Larsen and Toubro Ltd (L&T)
- Tata Projects Ltd (TPL)
- Gulermak Agir Sanayi Insaat ve Taahh. LIKE
- ITD Cementation India
- A consortium of Afcons Infrastructure and SAM India Builtwell
- A consortium of Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon and Hindustan Construction Company
- A consortium of J. Kumar Infraprojects and NCC Ltd
- A consortium of JMC Projects India and CAI
The scope of work under the KNPCC-06 contract includes the design and construction of TBM tunnel, covered trench tunnel, underground ramp from the central end of Kanpur to Nayaganj station up to the elevated ramp after Transport Nagar and three underground metro stations (namely Kanpur Central, Jhakarkatti and Transport Nagar) including architectural finishes, E and M, TVS, ECS, etc. on Corridor 1 of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.
A tender notice for this set of contracts was published in June 2021 with an estimated cost of the works of Rs 1,250 crores.
In accordance with the UPMRC, this contract will also be financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB). For this, the EIB had approved a loan of 650 million euros (about 5661 crore rupees) to the government. from India in July 2020.
Recently, workers from Gulermak – Sam India JV started construction of the first underground section between Permat Ramp and Nayajang at Naveen market. They have started pouring prefabricated ring segments for the 4 km long underground tunnel to be constructed between Chunniganj and Nayaganj at the Casting Yard in Kanpur.
