Gainwell Engineering Enters into Underground Mining Equipment Technology License Agreement with Caterpillar

Gainwell Engineering on Monday announced the launch of its operations by entering into an underground mining equipment technology license agreement with Caterpillar, a global leader in construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.

The agreement will enable Gainwell Engineering to manufacture underground equipment for medium and high joint chambers and pillars to support the growing coal production in India and other countries around the world. Coal remains the mainstay of energy security for India and emerging economies and this initiative will once again make reliable and superior room and pillar equipment available to global customers. As part of the agreement, Gainwell Engineering will also supply aftermarket spare parts and service support to the existing workforce of licensed Caterpillar Room & Pillar and Highwall Miner equipment.

Gainwell Engineering would set up its manufacturing headquarters in Kolkata, India with its factory set on 35 acres in Panagarh, West Bengal, India with an investment of Rs 500 crores which when fully developed will create an opportunity for employment for more than 250 people of highly qualified technicians.
