Hindustan Zinc signs MOU with Sandvik to introduce Bevs into underground mining

NEW DELHI : Hindustan Zinc has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sandvik AB to introduce battery-powered loaders and trucks to underground mining.

One step closer to carbon neutrality, Hindustan Zinc, India’s first and only integrated zinc-lead-silver producer and world leader, is set to introduce Sandvik’s TH550B battery electric trucks and LH518B loaders to its mines underground to reduce carbon emissions and make mining operations more environmentally friendly. friendly.

The company recently added to its fleet of electric vehicles, including electric scooters for security personnel, electric vehicles for site passengers, electric underground service vehicles for mines and electric forklifts for transporting goods. . All of these vehicles are in addition to the MoUs that Hindustan Zinc has already signed with Epiroc Rock Drills AB and Normet Group Oy to introduce BEVs into underground mining operations.
