Theta Gold Mines Limited Permit Update – TGME Underground Gold Project

Sydney, Australia (ABN Newswire) – Theta Gold Mines Limited (ASX:TGM) (FRA:3LM) (OTCMKTS:TGMGF) is pleased to announce that the final environmental and Environmental Management Program (EIA/EMPr) have been submitted to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) and the final technical documents for the Integrated Water Use License application to the Department of Energy. and Sanitation (DWS) for final decision.

The outcome of the DMRE and DWS decisions on the applications is expected in the fourth quarter of 2022 with an additional 90-day review and objection period. A positive decision from the competent authorities will allow the Company to start its MR83 underground project.

Over 20 studies were completed as part of the EIA process (see Annex 1 below for a list of studies). The findings of the EIA/EMPr and specialist studies did not identify any fatal flaws, unresolved objections, or significantly elevated impact ratings.

The required mitigation measures are all imminently achievable and this should provide all interested and affected parties with certainty that the impacts of our proposed activities will not threaten the environment.

A comprehensive stakeholder engagement process was undertaken prior to submission of applications. A very successful open day was held at Pilgrims Rest on May 28, 2022. Feedback from the open day was very positive and the community is very excited about the job opportunities and economic boost that will be created by the project. With the good attendance at the open day and various other stakeholder meetings, it can be concluded that the procedural requirement for consultation during the EIA phase is met. An application for an air emissions permit was also submitted to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment in June 2022. The application is currently available for public comment for a 30-day period ending August 10, 2022 A final decision on the application is expected by the end of the third quarter of 2022. This license will allow the operation of the processing plant. (Appendix 4* contains an advertisement placed to inform stakeholders of the application).
